On May 20, 2009, the Embassy of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus handed to National Library of Belarus collected works by Jose Marti.
Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Victor Kurash, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Omar Senon Medina Quintero, and Director of National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky welcomed the guests.
Ambassador Omar Senon Medina Quintero handed 9 out of 28 volumes of collected works “Edicion Critica” (“Critical Edition”) of Hero of Cuba Jose Marti (1853–1895).
The publication includes copies of manuscripts by Jose Marti along with printed materials: chronicles, reports, articles, essays, appeals, short biography, poems, short stories, plays, letters, announcements, manifests, dedications, drafts, notes, fragments of works, uncompleted annotations, translations and drawings.
In the framework of the event students of Minsk State Linguistic University read works by Jose Marti in Spanish language. Pupils of Minsk musical school # 3 presented their performance.
The event was part of cultural cooperation between Belarus and Cuba and promotion of traditional friendly relations.
