On December 3 at the gallery Rakurs took place a presentation of a new book “Belarusians Abroad” published by P. Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House.


The well illustrated edition in 2 thousand copies is a joint project of P. Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House, the Department of Archives and Record Keeping of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, several Belarusian archives and a collective of authors.

The book is about the role of the Belarusian people in world culture and science and the presence of Belarusians in separate countries and regions world over. The edition includes materials on organizations founded by Belarusians abroad, and biographies of outstanding Belarusian figures who had made a considerable contribution to social, economic and cultural development of foreign countries.

In the event participated: Deputy Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Lilia Ananich, editor-in-chief of P. Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House Larissa Yazykovich, director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, director of the Department of Archives and Record Keeping of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Adamushko, deputy chief of the Social-Cultural Administration of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and member of the Union of Writers of Belarus Natalya Golubeva, director of Literatura I Iskusstvo Publishing House Aleksandr Karlyukevich, director of National Historical Archive of Belarus Alla Golubovich.

Author-compiler of the book “Belarusians Abroad” Natalya Golubeva presented to the National Library of Belarus a copy of the edition with autographs of members of the authors board.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
