From August 6,2008, to September 21, 2008, in the Official Documents Reading Room (second floor, room 207) is open a book exhibition “The Youth of the XXI-th Century: Values, Positions, Guiding Lines” dedicated to the International Youth Day.




This day was established by the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999 (resolution 54/120) at the suggestion of
World Conference of ministers Responsible for Youth (Lisbon, august 8-12th, 1998)  and is observed annually on August 12.

The International Youth Day is regarded as an opportunity to attract the world community’s attention to young people which number is 1,2 milliard, approve their achievements, and contribute to their involvement to all the fields of society’s life.

In the last years most people admit that the modern young generation is not only leaders in the future, but crucial partners today. Young people discover unique prospects and make a valuable intellectual contribution to the development of society in their countries. They are active partners in global activities in the field of The Millennium Development Goals. Young people are in the vanguard of the fight against HIV/AIDS, poverty, and hunger.

The exhibition acquaints visitors with social, economic, and political activities of youth in the field of progress and a sustainable development of society. Young people long for being heard by the whole society and dedicate their enthusiasm and creativity to the creation of more perfect and developed world.
The exhibition includes the following sections:

  • youth and society: participation of young people in social and political life and social initiatives;
  • international legal documents and programs concerning young people;
  • statistics, analysis, and prospects of the young people state;
  • education of young people;
  • youth and labor-market;
  • youth and health;
  • youth policy in the Republic of Belarus.

At the exhibition are displayed over 100 materials of UN, UNESCO, Council of Europe, and European Union in Russian, English, French, and German languages: books, periodicals, brochures, booklets, and mimeographed materials.

We invite to the exhibition students, professors, young people, and everybody who is interested in the youth policy.
