The thematic exhibition “Modern Sports in Legal Terms” timed to the 2nd European Games is held from May 28 to August 26 in the Legal Information reading room (room 207b).

Sport is one of the most important spheres of social life. The sporting achievements of citizens of a particular state have always been considered an indicator of its power, the dignity of the social system, the level of the country's potential.

Sports competitions attract the attention of an increasing number of people, more and more money is invested in sports. Accordingly the requirements for the organization of sports events and the activities of their participants are increasing, and a need for a more precise legal regulation of relations in the field of sports arises. Currently the results of international competitions depend not only on the athletes’ achievments, but also on the legal interpretation of these results and the conflicts.

Now a significant array of legal prescriptions has been created in the legal system of Belarus: the legislative, bylegislative and local levels on the regulation of public relations in the field of physical culture, mass sports, high-performance sports, professional sports and other areas of physical culture and sports, as well as related social activities. The main regulatory and legal act regulating the sports industry in the Republic of Belarus is the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Physical Culture and Sport" of January 4, 2014 No. 125-З

The process of systematic improvement of the regulatory framework of physical culture and sports continues. The sports sphere in the Republic of Belarus cannot function effectively without taking into account international experience. Supporting the international principle of zero-tolerance to doping, Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus Decree No. 201 "On Countering Doping In Sport" was adopted in 2018.

In the framework of conducting the 2nd European Games, the state proceeds from the long-term interests of the nation: creating new, better conditions for practicing physical culture and sports, healthy lifestyle promotion and healing of the nation.
The exhibition is recommended to lawyers, athletes, researchers, teachers, graduate students and students of law and sports universities, as well as anyone interested in the development of sports law.

The exposition includes about 70 documents: books, brochures, periodicals, dissertation abstracts.

The exhibition includes the following thematic sections:
• Sports law as a complex branch of law
• Resolution of sports disputes in the Republic of Belarus
• Legal, disciplinary, criminal and other liability in sports
• Features of labor regulation of athletes and coaches
• Legal regulation of anti-doping measures
