From January 1, 2008 to January 20, 2008 in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition “Minstrel from Prynyamonnye” dedicated to the 70t anniversary of Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova, the Belarusian poet, laureate of Yanka Kupala State Prize (1984).


The poetry by Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova is full of sincerity, an exquisite lyricism, interconnections between the present and the past, and love of a human, nature, and the Fatherland.

The poet glorifies Belarus and her native land Prynyamonnye. The poetry by Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova is a sort of confession. The lyrics by her are dedicated to the issues of the present, as well as to the history, peace, human relations, loyalty, friendship, love, and motherhood.

At the exposition are displayed collected poetry and children’s books by Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova.

In a particular section of the exhibition are displayed books compiled by Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova. She is as well the author of forewords to these books.
Among the displayed materials are works by the poet translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and English languages.

A particular section of the exhibition acquaints visitors with materials dedicated to the poet’s life and career, as well as letters to Danuta Bichel-Zagnetova written by the eminent Belarusian poet Natalya Arsenyeva.

The exhibition includes over 70 materials.
