The Visual Materials Reading Room presents the exhibition "Flights from Vitebsk to Paris" dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Mark Shagal (1887-1985), the artist.
The artist was born in Vitebsk, but only a quarter of his life he lived in his home town. However, Vitebsk had become a source of rich and unforgettable impressions and inspiration for the talented artist. The most part of the works by Mark Shagal are dedicated to the artist’s beloved home town.
The exhibition aims to cover all the facets of Shagal’s art. His works are of different genres: fine art, graphics, stained glasses, mosaics, ceramics, and tapestry, and they charm visitors with their reach shine of colors, magic of lines, contrasts of light and darkness.
The exhibition presents over 100 materials: albums, books, articles, postcards, and replicas of works by the artist. We invite to the exhibition all who are interested in creative work by our eminent compatriot Mark Shagal.
