On 13 September, at the National Library of Belarus (gallery “Labyrinth”) took place the opening of the Republican exhibition of monumental art.


The event was carried out on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus to show the best works of monumental art created for 20 years of the Belarusian nationhood and brightly represented the Belarusian national art school.

The exposition consists of photos of monumental art works including monuments, frescos, tapestries, inlays and stained-glass artworks and is situated in two galleries of the National Library of Belarus.

Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko opened the exhibition. Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, chairman of the monumental art section of the Belarusian Artists’ Union Alexandr Susha, head of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts Mikhail Borozna, head of Gallery and Exhibition Division Feodor Yastreb welcomed the guests on the event.

The exposition is located in galleries "Labyrinth" and "Atrium" of the National Library of Belarus and will last until October 10, 2011.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
