On September 5, 2007, in National Library of Belarus was open an international art exhibition “Perception of the Myth”.


Since olden times, the human has perceived the reality and himself and with the help of myths. Myth as a phenomenon of the popular conscience is used today by politic and economic elites. Creative people – artists, poets, musicians – the reach mythological culture is a real source of inspiration. Mythology penetrates in all kinds of the art: fine art, literature, cinema, theatre, and music. Folklore, the ground of any culture, is full of legends and myths.

This project is dedicated to reveal the depth and diversity of mythological ground of the modern culture, remind of the classical myth, and show its modern interpretation. The eminent masters of a brush, graphic artists, sculptors, and photographers participate in the exhibition. Beside Belarusian artists, there are presented works by masters from Norway, Armenia, Russia, Turkey, Lithuania, Ukraine, and other countries.

Admiring painting, graphics, sculpture, media-art, and photography presented at the exhibition visitors acquaint themselves with the mystery of myth creation.

The exhibition is open from September 5, 2007 to October 11, 2007.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
