The exhibition "From those Early Days to The Present Time", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, will open on April 19.
70 posters will show the most significant milestones in the history of the Belarusian Bolshoi Theatre since its birth in 1933 and opening of its own building on Troezkiy (Trinity) Hill in 1939.
On May 25, 1933, on the stage of the City Theater the "Carmen" by Bizet was performed, and on March 10, 1939 the Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus was opened with the premiere of the opera E. Tikotsky "Mihas Podgorny". The exhibition visitors will see the poster of this play, as well as the poster of the first national ballet "Nightingale" by M. Kroshner.
The exhibition will also show tragic pages of the history of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the Bolshoi Theater’s modern history: youth forum of opera art of CIS, Baltic States and Georgia; International contest of singers, artists of Italian opera Competizione dell'opera; Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum and others.
Visitors can see the posters of the Soviet Union, the posters of the cities and countries where the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus has visited during the tour, unique posters of the XIX century and musical sheets. A special section will be devoted to the "Parterre" magazine.
On the opening day, guests will enjoy the outstanding soloists of the Bolshoi Theater and live music by the band A.M.A.D.I.S. Brass, and see the historical records with the stars of the past and present.
The event will start at 4 p.m. in the "Labyrinth" gallery (3rd floor).
The exposition will be presented to the audience till the June 14, 2018.
The last date of the exhibition may be changed.
The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
