Life and career of Ivan Shamiakin

An excursion from the cycle "Outstanding People of the Motherland" about the life and creative career of Ivan Shamiakin is designed primarily for senior pupils and students, as well as everyone who is interested in the life and work of the writer.

During the excursion, visitors learn the architectural features of the building of the National Library of Belarus, its information resources and services, explore the principle of the electronic catalogue using the example of the search for the famous writer.

A part of the excursion takes the form of an interactive lesson using a presentation about the life and creative career of Ivan Shamiakin. The emphasis is on the works of military subjects, such as "Anxious Happiness", "Deep Current", "Heart on the Palm", "I'll take your Pain", "A Merchant Girl and a Poet", "Wedding Night". Tourists get to know the writer's work and learn about the heroism of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. To solidify the knowledge gained, excursionists are invited to solve a crossword puzzle and answer quiz questions. Excursionists are also offered a book exhibition of Ivan Shamiakin's works from the collections of the National Library of Belarus.
