Thus they began to print this holy book

“Thus they began to print this holy book...” – quotation from the eminent afterword to the book “Apostle” (1564)– the first exacted dated book published in Moscow by world-known printers Ivan Fyodorov and Piotr Mstislavets. At the exhibition were displayed original book monuments published by Ivan Fyodorov and Piotr Mstislavets which revealed peculiarities and design of the book “Apostle” of 1564 as well as the epoch in which the book had been created.

”Triod Postnaya” (Moscow, 1555–56) – is a publication by so-called “Anonymous printing-house”, where Ivan Fyodorov may have started his work as a printer.

Book “Apostle” published by Ivan Fyodorov in 1574 in Lvov  is a copy of the Moscow issue of the book supplemented with forewords and afterwords.

At the exhibition were displayed as well incunabula –Ostrozhskaya Bible (Ostrog, 1581) by Ivan Fyodorov and The Gospel (Vilno, 1575) by Piotr Mstislavets which are the best publications by the eminent printers.
