The National Library of Belarus and the monthly scientific and methodical journal "Rodnaje Slova" (Native Word) worked together to maintain the section "Temple of Wisdom and Knowledge" on the publication's pages in honour of the 100th anniversary of the nation's primary library, which was completed on December 21.
The National Library and other information institutions of Belarus published articles by researchers and specialists on the pages of each issue of the magazine throughout the year that described the function and significance of the country's oldest book repository in the development of national culture.
47 articles were published as a result of the project, 14 of which were written by "Diamond of the Knowledge" staff members. They were focused in the library's history, notable individuals who contributed significantly to its foundation and growth, rare books and publications, contemporary information sources, and scientific initiatives carried out in the library.
Viktar Pshybytka, Deputy General Director of the National Library of Belarus, addressed the participants with a welcoming address, who praised the project’s timeliness and success, and thanked the collaborators for their cooperative efforts.
The editorial board of the magazine “Rodnaje Slova” presented letters of appreciation to the National Library of Belarus and the most active authors of the section the “Temple of Wisdom and Knowledge”.
The event was held within the framework of round table discussion: "Homo legends: the reading man and his image in modern culture" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Belarus, which was held at the National Art Museum.
