On November 18, a videoconference session was held at the International Round Table “Libraries and Library Public Associations in the context of modernity”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Belarus, the 30th anniversary of the Belarusian Library Association and the 5th anniversary of the Library Association of Ugra.
Around 50 representatives from Belarus and Russia's library communities attended the event.
The participants were welcomed by:
- Viktar Pshybytka, Deputy General Director – Director for Information Resources and User Services of the National Library of Belarus
- Eugenia Fink, Director of the State Library of Ugra, a state-funded institution of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region Ugra.

In the first part of the meeting, the main trends in the development of libraries and professional associations in Russia and Belarus were highlighted, and the most important areas of their interaction were highlighted. The speeches made informed the audience about the state and prospects of development of the library industry in the two countries, as well as the key goals and tasks facing libraries today.
Speakers addressed issues related to cultural diplomacy and cross-cultural aspects of library institutions' activities during the second part of the event.
Trends, main problems and issues of further development of library personnel, as well as the importance of librarians' contribution to the development of the library industry were considered in the final part of the round table.
The National Library was represented by:
- Viktar Pshybytka, the Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus
- Anastasia Maslovskaya, employee of the of Library Science Department – Head of the Section
- Irina Kuketa, the chief librarian
- Ekaterina Kozlyuk, leading bibliographer of the Bibliographic Document Processing Department.

The participants of the meeting noted the significance of the meeting and stressed the importance and necessity of continuing cooperation. The results of the round table will undoubtedly contribute to further strengthening of partnership relations between the institutions of our countries.
