On February 28, the National Library took part in the round table "Protection and popularization of historical memory. Writers-fellow countrymen: Yazep Pushcha", which was held in the Gatovskaya rural library–club as part of the regional project "Native Land’ Writers".
It is symbolic that the participants of the round table gathered just outside Minsk, nearby the village Korolishchevichi, where Yazep Pushcha (1902–1964) was born.

The event was organized by the Minsk regional central library, the Minsk regional library named after A.S. Pushkin, the Belarusian state archive museum of literature and art and the Gatovskaia rural library club.
The interactive book exhibition "A Star of the National Poetry", produced in collaboration with the Minsk regional central library especially for the round table, was co-organized by the National Library of Belarus. Rare lifetime editions of Yazep Pushcha from the 1920s and 1930s from the collections of the primary library drawn attention of the audience: "Ranitsa Rykae" (1925), "Vita" autographed by the author to the Russian poet and journalist Maria Shkapskaia (1926), "Dni Viasny" (1927), «Pesni na ruinah" (1929) and "Kryvavy Plakat" (1930).
Tatiana Lavrik, head of the Library science department of the Pushkin’s Minsk regional library, greeted the guests and attendees. Tatiana discussed the development of the regional project "Native Land’ Writers", initiated by the library. The initiative was joined by libraries in the area, launched effectively, and is still being actively carried out.
Sergey Plytkevich, a writer and photographer who is the chairman of the regional publishing company "Ritfur", was invited to the event and spoke about the website he developed called "Belarus Planet". On the aforementioned website, Sergey recommended highlighting notable figures in Belarusian culture and virtual library projects.
The round table was attended by well–known literary critics, and researchers of works by writers–members of the Literary association "Maladniak". Viktor Zhibul, candidate of philological sciences, leading researcher of the Belarusian state archive museum of literature and art, also presented intriguing data about Yazep Pushcha. He discussed the role of Minsk in the poet's life and work, his locations in Minsk, and the reflection of the life of the capital in his poems and memoirs.
Oksana Danilchik, a literary critic, translator, candidate of philological sciences, traced the reception of Italian literature in the poet's work, found common ground in the poems of Yazepа Pushcha and Dante.
The second part of the event was dedicated to library resources created in honor of the writer. Yulia Amosova, senior bibliographer of the Information and analytical department of the National library of Belarus, discussed the archive collections of Yazep Pushcha and his works in the virtual project "On the wave of time throughout the life". The presentation followed by the materials of the virtual exhibition dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth Yazep Pushcha, focused on the "Photo Gallery" section, which was created thanks to the collaboration with the poet's archive collection in the Belarusian state archive museum of literature and art. The collection consists of photographs of the poet and his relatives and colleagues, his personal documents, greeting cards and telegrams, letters, unique manuscripts with author's corrections, allowing you to follow the creative search of the poet. The presentation emphasized the importance of studying and preserving such documents for understanding the literary process of the 1920s and 1930s.
Within the framework of the regional project "Native Land’ Writers", the Minsk regional central library prepared and posted on its website the Yazep Pushcha’s virtual museum, which was presented by Marina Кomluk, head of the Library marketing department. The resource is intended for a wide audience and contains texts, photos of the writer, critical materials about him, as well as fascinating tests and puzzles, where everyone can learn something new about their fellow countryman Yazep Pushcha.
It's nice that the round table attracted so many listeners, including high school students from the Gatovskaia secondary school and members of the Minsk district's television and library personnel. We would like to thank the organizers of the event, partners of the project "On the wave of time throughout the life", researchers of the creative work of the “Maladniak” followers! We hope that further efforts like these will be made to preserve the memories of our compatriots.
