A regular event of the project "On the Waves of Time throughout Life" took place on April 25. The joint project, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian Literary Association of Poets and Writers “Maladnyak”, is implemented during 2019–2023 by the National Library of Belarus in cooperation with the State Museum of History of the Belarusian Literature, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts, and the literary magazine "Maladost".

Victor Zhibul, a leading researcher of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts, poet and winner of the literary prize "Prazrysty Eol" (2018) for the study of TAVIZ activities, read a public lecture "TAVIZ, the Literary Bohemia of the 1930s”. The event was held at the State Museum of History of Belarusian Literature.

In the early 1930s, the literary activities in Belarus had virtually become an integral part of Soviet ideology. At that time, TAVIZ appeared as an informal group of literati, which was beyond control of party ideologists and censors. Thus the literary Bohemia challenged the official writing. At different times it included Zmitrok Astapenka, Mikhas Bagun, Yurka Vicbich, Sergey Darozhny, Alies Dudar, Alies Zvonak, Vasil Kaval, Todar Klyashtorny, Maxim Luzhanin, Valery Marakou, Eduard Samuylonak, Juli Taubin, Vladimir Khadyka.

The lecturer introduced the audience to the writing of some authors-members of the “Maladnyak” association, who were also members of TAVIS, and conducted an online tour to Minsk of the 1930s and places where the literati gathered.

The lecture of Victor Zhibul was attended by Irina Bogdanovich, a poetess, literary critic and scholar of literature of this period, together with her students.

The next event of the joint project "On the Wave of Time throughout Life" is timed to the anniversary of the birth of poet and member of the “Maladnyak” association Paulyuk Trus. The event will be held in the State Museum of History of Belarusian Literature, on May 13. The National Library of Belarus prepares a temporary exhibition of the photographs and books of the poet.

We invite all interested!
