The large-scale project continues its work after a summer vacation with a number of events.

On October 15, at 5 p.m., at the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, an evening dedicated to the 120th birthday of Adam Babareko (14.10.1899–10.10.1938), poet, prose writer, literary critic, critic, one of the organizers of the literary associations "Maladnyak" and "Uzvyshsha" will be held.

Like most of the writers from "Maladnyak", he was repressed, died in a camp hospital being almost 40 years old. During the life of the author, only one of his books was published - “Apavyadanni” («Апавяданні», 1925). However, after returning the documents to their native land, it became possible to get acquainted with its entire heritage, the Collected Works in 2 volumes was given (Збор твораў у 2 тамах, 2011, Vilnius), prepared by the daughter of the writer Alesia Babareko and researchers Anna Zapartyka and Viktor Zhibul.

Adam Babareka was one of the first in Russian science to begin to develop the theoretical issues of aesthetics, the methodology of literature, focused on the aesthetic views of writers, the problems of the talent and the literature, culture.

On the occasion of the 120th birthday of the outstanding literary critic, the National Library of Belarus presents the virtual section «Адам Антонович Бабареко», which was already presented on the NLB portal in September as part of the project («На хвалі часу, у плыні жыцця»).

The event will be attended by employees of the National Library of Belarus, the State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, researchers of the life and work of Adam Babareka from the journal "Maladost". During the meeting, photographs and books from the collections of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature and the National Library will be presented.

A series of author’s lectures is being prepared. They will be held in the museum (13, M. Bogdanovich St.):


  • on October 17 at 17.00 - lecture by a prose writer, archivist, researcher Anna Sevyarynets;
  • on October 23 at 17.00 - lecture of the poet and literary critic Viktor Zhibul on the Babareka’s literary heritage;
  • on October 30 at 17.00 - lecture by the poet and literary critic Victor Zhibul on the Babareka’s life path and activities.
