A veteran of the National Library of Belarus, a highly qualified bibliographer Halina Antonava (03.03.1948 - 08.07.2021) has passed away.
Ms Antonava dedicated more than 40 years to the National Library of Belarus (1973–2013). Her professional activity was associated with the departments of reader services, Belarusian literature and bibliography, and the bibliography research department.
Ms Antonava was a real master in her profession. She stood at the origins of the development of a methodology for bibliographic processes automation that requires deep study of complex information, good organizational and editorial skills. She made a significant contribution to the development of the Belarusian historical bibliography. With her direct participation, the database "History of Belarus" was created and developed, on the basis of which several editions of the printed bibliographic index "New literature on the history and historical sciences of Belarus" were published in the early 1990s. Ms Antonava also took part in the preparation of the electronic resources "Belarus during the Great Patriotic War" (2005), "Let’s Greet Those Great Years: dedication to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory" (2010), bibliographic indexes "Charnobyl" (1993-1996), "Mikalaj Ulashchyk "(2006). She participated in the formation of the combined database "Belarus: From the Past to the Present", content development of the EIR "The National Bibliography of Belarus".
Thanks to her professional qualities and skills of a true bibliographer, Halina Antonava was always a responsible mentor, an example for young colleagues. For many years of highly professional, industrious work, a significant personal contribution to the development of the national bibliography, she repeatedly received gratitude from the National Library of Belarus, was awarded the Certificate of Honour of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
Her humour and positive attitude went hand in hand with responsibility, bibliographic scrupulousness, attentive attitude to work and people, which always created a zone of calm and comfort for those around her.
