Newspaper Age: Pages of Time. What the newspaper Bednyak (Poor Man) wrote about on April 13, 1919.

Today, we read the newspaper Bednyak, published in Minsk, No. 159 of April 13, 1919, the print media (1918–1919) of the Central and Minsk Provincial Committees of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Lithuania and Byelorussia.

The editorial office was located at “the Petropavlovskaya, in front of the City Theater, the Communist Women’s House”. Subscription to the newspaper was placed in an office at "the corner of Gubernatorskaya and Podgornaya, Sventsitsky’s house, 1 floor”.

The publication is very lively in content; it published a lot of letters from the places where the authors honestly told about what it’s like to live in the conditions of the military-revolutionary time. The sprouts of a new life are already visible, and a new consciousness, when everything should be in fairness, be it the celebration of Easter or the sharing of timber. At the same time, the past has not gone so far. And sometimes, some weird things can happen. The glory of the venerable satirists, Ilf and Petrov, Bulgakov and company, pales in comparison with these unsophisticated notes from life!

And one more impression: 100 years passed, but some situations are still recognizable. And you don’t know whether to laugh or to cry about it...

Thus our regular reader’s conference is open!
