Representatives of regional, district, and republican libraries attended the webinar "Procedure for filling books with water to prevent bio-damage to documents" that the library hosted on February 16.
During the event, Ekaterina Volynets, a microbiologist at the National Library of Belarus, spoke about the causes of emergencies, the need for an emergency action plan, types of document damage, and practical actions to minimize damage caused by water damage to the collection.
The need for timely and coordinated library staff action to dry papers was brought to light in order to minimise biological damage to the holdings.
The material was prepared by the Center for digitization and preservation of library documents.
