On February 9–13, the National Library of Belarus traditionally participated in the XVIII Minsk International Book Fair which took place at the National Exhibition Center BelExpo.
The prestige of the book fair in Minsk is growing from year to year while the number of participant countries and visitors is constantly increasing. This year 605 exhibitors from 23 countries presented their stands. Germany, the exhibition’s guest of honor, acquainted visitors with new books, works by modern authors and first of all with editions in the German language.
The National Library of Belarus presented on its exposition stand more than 50 information editions. Visitors of the exhibition could see the Library’s printed editions (materials of conferences, bibliographies, editions promoting the Library’s collections) and electronic editions: bibliographic and full text databases on the history, culture and art of Belarus.
On February 10 the presentation of information resources and services of the National Library of Belarus took place at the major stand of the Exhibition Center BelExpo. On the same day within the framework of the Minsk International Book Fair, the round table session “The role of educational institutions, publishing houses and libraries in reading development” was held at the National Library of Belarus.
On February 11 the presentation of investment projects in the field of preservation and promotion of national book heritage took place at the stand of the National Library of Belarus.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the Embassy of Germany in Belarus and Goethe Institute in Minsk presented to the National Library of Belarus a certification for a collection of ecological literature “Sunny Perspectives. Green Architecture Today!”.
The National Library of Belarus as a republican information, social and cultural center manifested itself as a remarkable publisher whose editions are as good and high-quality as other participants’ editions.
A diploma for an active participation and an original exposition was awarded to the National Library of Belarus.
