On December 16 and 17, Vyacheslav Brichkovsky, the head of section of the Corporate Interaction Department, conducted workshops in the city of Orsha on the topic of publicly available resources and the virtual reading room of the National Library of Belarus.

On December 16, employees of the Orsha Central Library System got acquainted with the current trends and results of the open access initiative in the Republic of Belarus and abroad.

On December 17, during a workshop at Orsha State Medical College, the college teachers were introduced to the access options to the databases of leading publishers, provided through the virtual reading room of the National Library of Belarus.

The attendees had a special interest in the Internet navigator “Belarus in the Information Space.” The website contains information on the most authoritative Belarusian electronic resources that objectively reflect the country’s life.

In the 1950s of the last century, the State Library named after V.I. Lenin was tasked with organizing activities as a centre for interlibrary subscription, scientific, methodological and bibliographic work and the main base of library and bibliographic services for research work in the republic, as well as the central state book depository of the BSSR. Thus, the role of the library in ensuring the social and cultural development of the state and society was emphasized.
