On February 19, 2009, in the National Library of Belarus (art gallery Rakurs, 2nd floor) took place a literary evening “Wonderful mother language” dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.




Within the framework of the event was opened an exhibition of the same name at which were displayed about 100 Belarusian publications: ABC books, children’s books, and schoolbooks, presentation series “Literary Belarus”, “Belarusian poetry of the XX-th century”, “Faith. Hope. Love.” and other publications of the best Belarusian plays, parodies, epigrams, fables, songs and sonnets.

Visitors enjoyed performances of an orchestra of Dzershinsk gymnasium № 14 and people’s studio of traditional art of pupils and teachers of Minsk gymnasium № 23.

Deputy Director for library science and public relations Lyudmila Kiryukhina,chairman of National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO Vladimir Schasny, director of National Academy of Sciences Y. Kolas and Y.Kupala Institute of Language and Literature, Doctor of philology, professor Alexander Lukashanets, head of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts faculty, candidate of historical science, professor Piotr Gud, executive director of international broadcasting station “Belarus”, poet Naum Galperovich, honored artist of the Republic of Belarus Tatiana Markhel, editor-in-chief of film studio “Belarusfilm” N.G. Stezhko, and deputy director of Minsk gymnasium № 14 Maria Gorokhova participated in the evening.

The 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War are among the main events of 2024 and 2025. Numerous patriotic and cultural and educational events, scientific conferences, exhibitions, publishing projects, electronic resources and much more will be dedicated to these anniversaries for two years.
