On January, 22nd, the National Library of Belarus hosted a web-conference “Research activities in libraries: achievements and prospects” timed to the Day of Belarusian Science.
The event was arranged by the National Library of Belarus.
The conference gathered more than 70 delegates including 30 online-participants: directors and leading experts of regional and republican libraries of Belarus and representatives of education institutions.
Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, presented a welcome speech to participants of the conference. He also mentioned key problems of the library science, priority directions of library and bibliographical research, and designated vectors of the further development of research activities in libraries.
At the event participants shared their experience and research results. The discussion was focused on the following topics: problems arising during research activity in libraries; the ways of integration of Belarusian libraries into a single science and information space; a need for the development of research skills of library staff. The questions of financing of research and shortage of young research workers in libraries were considered.
The conference papers will be published in a professional journal Bibliyatechny svet (The Library World).
