We invite children aged 6–12 and their parents on February 4th, at 12.00, to the lessons “A handwritten book” in the Book Museum.

A handwritten book was a foundation for the creation of book printing. Manuscripts appeared since earliest times – 11–12 centuries in Belarusian scriptoriums. As a result our ancestors created a rich and varied handwritten book heritage. Handwritten books attract attention due to their art decorations. Many colorful initials are in handwritten books, and each and every is an artwork. Participants of the lesson will create their own unique initial.

Children and adults will have an opportunity to see artifacts of the past – handwritten book monuments more than 500 years old. Lessons are held in a simple and interesting way. Learning about variety of book culture will be through dialogues, games and creativity.

The lesson lasts for 60 minutes.

The lesson along with materials for creative tasks costs 3.70 (three rubles seventy).

We wait for everyone in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus! Let’s celebrate a wonderful jubilee – the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing together!
