During an official visit the parliamentary delegation of India headed by Ms. Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker of the Lok Sabha (lower house) of the Parliament of the Republic of India, has visited the Library on June 13.
Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, has held a sightseeing tour for the guests of honor, during which he has presented the history and architecture of the "Belarusian diamond".
After the visit of the observation deck, where the delegation members could enjoyed the view of the capital of Belarus they also learned the collection of the world's primers in the Book museum.
Roman Motulsky has also told the guests about the 400th anniversary of the first Bukvar, which we were celebrating this year, and about the project on facsimile reconstruction of the valuable monument of the Belarusian book culture, "Bukvar" dated by 1816. As a memento about the Library Roman Motulsky handed to the guests the "Bukvar" facsimile dated by 1767.
At the end of the meeting, Ms. Sumitra Mahajan, on behalf of all members of the delegation, has expressed gratitude for the reception and excursion, left a note in the Book of Honored Guests and handed valuable memorable gifts to the National Library of Belarus.
