The virtual reading room continues to acquaint staff and users of libraries with the possibilities of using electronic information resources. As part of this work, on 19 and 20 February, a series of seminars were held in the libraries of Brest.
The seminars were organized by the National Library of Belarus jointly with Lan Electronic Library System. Presentations were made by Marina Rudakovskaya, head of department of the National Library of Belarus, and Svetlana Shnurova, deputy director of Lan Electronic Library System.
A seminar, held in Brest Regional Library named after M. Gorky, was attended by the library’s staff and representatives of all centralized library systems in the region. The event was opened by the director of the regional library, Elena Strizhevich. The audience was introduced into the virtual reading room and its resources, features and opportunities of Lan Electronic Library System, as well as the advantages of using the system in inclusive education.
The attendees were particularly interested in the new electronic project of the National Library of Belarus, the thematic site “Belarus in the Information Space” (http://infocenter.nlb.by). All public libraries of the country are welcome to take part in the development of the web navigator.
A seminar in the library of Brest State Technical University brought together administration and faculty, young scientists and university students, and employees of the university library. The attendees had a master class in Lan Electronic Library System and familiarized themselves with with the corporate projects of the National Library. Also, proposals for the participation of the university in the formation of corporate information resources were made.
