On 25 March, a solemn celebration “Under the Sky of Sacred Greece…” was held at the art gallery “Rakurs”.


The event took place as part of the celebrations of the Greek Independence Day and the 190th anniversary of the Liberation of Hellas from the Turkish yoke.

The event was prepared by the Belarusian Greek Union “Peloponnesus”, the Embassy of the Greek Republic in the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.

Within the framework of the event, a book exhibition on the Greek history, culture and society was opened.

The works of Greek artists Natalya, Vladimir and Pavel Dimitriadi are on display at the mobile gallery, along with portrait photography of the Heroes of the Greek National Liberation Movement (1821–1833).

Chair of the Council of the Belarusian Greek Union “Peloponnesus” Raphael Delyanov, Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, representatives of the Greek Diaspora and creative workers took part in the event.

During the solemn celebration visitors enjoyed performances of artists – winners and participants of republican festivals and contests Ksenia Chalopulo, Polina Mikhaylova, Mark Voytko, Arthur Mikhaylov, Victoria Trandofilidi, Artiom Akhpash, and also choreography group “Belyje Krylya” under the direction of honored cultural worker of Poland Victor Baranovich and dance group “Alkestida” under the direction of Danila Mikhaylidi.

The art exhibition of Natalya, Vladimir and Pavel Dimitriadi runs until 10 April at the mobile galley (3rd floor, circular hall) of the National Library of Belarus.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
