The First United Nations Charter in Belarusian was presented at the "Loshitsa Homestead" museum on June 26. The presentation dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
Two Belarusians, Mr Kuzma Kiselev and Mr Andrei Gromyko, signed the UN Charter in the city of San Francisco on June 26, 1945. Belarus has become one of the founding countries of the United Nations.
The presentation of the charter in the Belarusian language is one of the anniversary events planned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations in Belarus.
Mr Roman Motulsky, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, was among the invited guests. Since 1957, the country's main book depository has been part of the depository library system for the worldwide distribution of the UN documents and publications. Our collections have publications from six United Nations governing bodies.
The UN Charter is illustrated with unique historical photos from the organization’s archive. It replenished the collections of the National Library of Belarus.
The presentation was held in a symbolic place for both the UN and the republic. It was the place of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) here in 1946-1947. The body provided humanitarian assistance in the territories liberated from fascism.
The guests watched the film about the history of the United Nations from signing the charter of the organization to the present during the presentation.
