A delegation of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey visited the National Library of Belarus, on October 2.

The guests were introduced to the information resources of the country's main library, including internal databases, available to users of the “diamond of knowledge”: East View, ProQuest, Cambridge Journals Online, Oxford Journals Online (Full Collection) and more.

The Chairman of the Council for Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey, Yekta Sarach, was pleasantly surprised at the number of materials –91 thousand – in the Turkish language, stored in the collections of the National Library.

In the Book Museum, the delegation members became interested in the Arabic-Turkish dictionary of the 16th century, Turkish manuscripts of the 17th and 19th centuries, the multivolume facsimile edition of the Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna, as well as the artistic design of religious books in the Book Binding section.

During the tour, the guests visited the president center, got acquainted with the reading rooms and enjoyed the beauty of the autumn city at the library’s observation deck.

This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
