On 20 January, the session of Coordinating Council of corporative cataloguing system and conduct of a Joint electronic catalogue of libraries in Belarus took place at the National Library of Belarus.
Its participants were specialists from the Central Scientific Library named after it Y. Kolas, the Republican Library for Science and Technology and the National Library of Belarus.
According to the program of the session there were discussed the features of corporate work in 2011, the participation of representatives of the organizations in the work of Technological Committee; questions on book cataloguing, abstracts of theses, dissertations; the results of batch download of visual documents, difficulties caused in a semantic processing of these documents; features of the formation of authoritative records in the Joint electronic catalogue of libraries in Belarus, difficulties of cataloguing of visual documents; algorithms of work with doublet bibliographic records.
The participants were informed about new edition of the document “Руководство по составлению в формате BELMARC/Authorities авторитетных/нормативных записей на имена организаций” (A guard on in the format BELMARC/Authorities authoritative/normative records under the names of organizations) and an opportunity to access to its electronic version.
There were made suggestions about changes of organizational structure in management of the corporative cataloguing system and the Joint electronic catalogue of libraries in Belarus.
