The results of the 5th Republican Competition “The Library as a Center of Spiritual Enlightenment and Education” were summarized in the National Library, on September 2.
This year, 62 public libraries applied for the competition.
The competent jury included: Bishop of Borisov and Maryina Gorka Veniamin (chairman of the jury); director of the National Library of Belarus R. Motulsky (deputy chairman of the jury); Deputy Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs E. Radchenko; chief specialist of the Department of Culture and Folk Art of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus S. Botyan; chief specialist of the Department of General and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus I. Bulavkina; chief librarian of the Library Science Research Department of the National Library of Belarus O. Rynkevich (secretary of the jury); secretary of the Publishing Council of the Belarusian Orthodox Church T. Samoyluk; head of the Central Library of the Belarusian Exarchate S. Vinogradova; member of the Coordinating Council for Library Activities at the Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Belarusian Orthodox Church T. Kvasova.
During the meeting, the jury selected the winners in four categories: “Spiritual and moral education of children and youth,” “History of Orthodoxy of the native land,” “A family as the heir of moral and spiritual values,” “Patriotic education and Orthodox traditions.” As a result, 39 entries were nominated.
After approval by Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Pavel, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, the information about the winners will be displayed on the portal of the National Library of Belarus, the official site of the Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and the site “Orthodox Libraries of Belarus” (Russian: "Православные библиотеки Беларуси").
