On June 13, the city of Orsha hosted the grand opening of the Republican School of Library Directors.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the District Executive Committee of Orsha, the National Library of Belarus and the Centralized Library System of Orsha.
First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Karchevskaya, head of the Culture Department of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Petr Podgursky and deputy chairman of Orsha District Executive Committee in Vitebsk Region Viktor Kolochyov made a welcoming address to participants.
As part of the charity campaign, timed to the Year of Native Land in Belarus, about two hundred publications were transferred to Orsha District libraries.
The plenary meeting heard reports from Alesya Samorukova, a chief specialist of the Department of Culture of Orsha District Executive Committee; Tatyana Adamyan, the director of Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin; Oksana Kulagina, the director of Orsha Centralized Library System; Marina Pshibytko, the head of the Library Science Research Department of the National Library of Belarus; Natalia Zamaeva, the head of section of the National Library of Belarus; Elena Politko, the head of the Computer Center of the National Library of Belarus, and Valentina Bachkova, the director of Krichev District library network in Mogilev Region.
The speakers touched upon the implementation of state policy in the field of cultural development and library science; legislative regulation of library activities; statistical accounting in libraries; the possibilities of using the digital environment, as well as the current state and prospects of public libraries in Orsha District and Vitebsk Region as a whole.
In the afternoon, the session “Corporate Information Resources of Libraries: Formation and Use” was held. The attendees discussed the development and use of corporate information resources, as well as the interaction of libraries within a single information space. The representatives of the National Library of Belarus, as well as heads and specialists of regional and central libraries of Belarus made presentations on the problem.
