On March 1, at 5 p.m., at the art gallery “Labyrinth” takes place the opening of the exhibition “The Patriarch of Belarusian Satire” timed to the 115th birthday of people’s writer of Belarus Kondrat Krapiva (1896–1991).


The event organizers are the National Library of Belarus and the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature.

The literary and documentary exhibition "The Patriarch of Belarusian Satire” reveals a unique satirical talent of Kondrat Krapiva, the Belarusian classical writer, poet-satirist, dramatist, linguist, and one of the most known representatives of Belarusian national culture.

The exhibition will present valuable sources from the writer’s archive which is kept in the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature: manuscripts, letters, photographs taken in different years, documents, souvenirs, books and other property.

The National Library of Belarus will present a show exhibition of Kondrat Krapiva’s works and documents from its stacks.

Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, and also director of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature Lydia Makarevich, Belarusian writer and literary critic Lydia Arabey, chief director of the Belarusian radio foreign broadcast Naum Galperovich,board secretary of the Union of Writers of Belarus, poet Mikhail Poznyakov, dramatist Aleksey Dudarev, actor Gennady Ovsyannikov, the writer’s relatives, researchers and admirers of Kondrat Krapiva’s books and his friends will take part in the event.

The exhibition runs at the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus up to May 1.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
