On February 6–10, the National Library of Belarus took part in the 26th Minsk International Book Fair.
The largest Belarusian book festival is a traditional event for the National Library. This year, the employees of the "diamond of knowledge" held a series of events where they have presented the results of our team’s work. In the project list there are:
- the world’s first Bukvar (Primer) facsimile (Evye, 1618);
- electronic edition Станаўленне беларускай дзяржаўнасці: па старонках беларускіх газет 1917–1922 гг. (Formation of the Belarusian Statehood: through the pages of Belarusian newspapers, 1917–1922);
- thematic website "Belarus in the Information Space".
At the presentations, features of publications and the website were presented, library staff introduced array of information and suggested options for the practical application of new resources.
The excitement at the library stand did not subside during all the book festival. At the exhibition "Belarusian primer: four centuries of history" visitors could plunge into warm memories from childhood, as well as find out what the first book looked like in each person’s life in other eras.
Our specialists took an active part in events and at other stands. At the site of the Belarusian Library Association, the public was told about the project activities of libraries on the example of the international exhibition "Belarus and the Bible", which was successfully held in the main library of the country. At the playground together with the the "Vyaselka" magazine employees an interactive game for the little guests of the exhibition was held, during which the young scholars were introduced to the fascinating history of Belarusian primers.
A particularly pleasant event for any library is the replenishment of the collection of documents. At the international exhibition-fair rare editions and manuscripts were given from the well-known historian and collector Vladimir Lihodedov’s own collection to the Library. During the festival, books, magazines and archival materials were displayed at the stand of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus at the exhibition "In Search of the Lost".
The National Library has also become one of the venues for the international book fair. Artists from the Karina Sarsenova's "KS production" center made a performance in the Library, and a presentation of the book "Анталогія сучаснай азербайджанскай літаратуры. Паэзія" (Anthology and Modern Azerbaijani Literature. Poetry) was held.
The staff of the National Library of Belarus became the winner in the nomination "For the Contribution to the Preservation of Spiritual Heritage". A special diploma and a memorable sign-symbol "Small Golden Folio" is a well-deserved reward for the world’s first Bukvar (Primer) facsimile.
The National Library received the Diploma of the 26th Minsk International Book Fair for an active part and original exposition.
