Kabiljon Sabirov, the Director of the People's Diplomacy Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, presented an electronic collection of writings by Belarusian authors from the holdings of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi to the National Library of Belarus on November 28 at the House of Friendship as part of the round table "Uzbekistan – Belarus: Time-tested friendship".
The collection includes translations of works by Yakub Kolas, Yanka Bryl, Yanka Kupala, Maksim Tank, Arkady Kuleshov, Vasil Bykov into the Uzbek language, as well as archival materials on Belarusian-Uzbek relations.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus, the event was put on by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus, the People's Diplomacy Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Minsk city branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation.
The participants of the round table discussed the achievements and prospects of our nation’s cultural diplomacy, the experience of Belarus and Uzbekistan in implementing peace programs, joint initiatives to honour the memory of the Great Patriotic War heroes, Belarusian-Uzbek projects in the field of literary creation and publishing, and the contribution of Yakub Kolas, the people's poet of Belarus, to the rapprochement of the peoples of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
The National Library of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan have long-standing close relations. Among the latest implemented joint projects, it is worth noting the presentation of the informational and illustrative project "Forest Song" in the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, as well as the transfer of Belarusian books to the SCO Knowledge Hall of the Center for People's Diplomacy within the framework of the international project "Belarus Today".
