On March 11th in the gallery “Labyrinth” of National Library of Belarus took place the literary-musical event “The melody of heart – the melody of soul” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the world-known Polish composer, Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849).


National Library of Belarus had joined the world-wide celebration of the anniversary of the founder of Polish classical music, composer and pianist Fryderyk Chopin and presented its own cultural project – the literary-musical event “The melody of heart – the melody of light”.

National Librarian of Belarus Roman Motulsky opened the celebration. Chairman of the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO Vladimir Shcasny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to the Republic of Belarus Henrik Litvin, director of F. Chopin Children’s Musical School №3 in Minsk Mikhail Abrazhevich and head of the gallery and exhibition department of National Library of Belarus Fyodor Yastreb welcomed guests of the event.

Within the framework of the literary-musical event, the presentation of the book-illustrative exhibition “The poet of the piano” was held. Books, music, audio records, sets of postcards and electronic editions were displayed at the anniversary exposition.

At the same time the art exhibition “The melody of light” was opened. Aquarellists, painters, masters of photo and graphics presented their works dedicated to the great musician.

Pianist-virtuoso Alexander Polyakov, pupils of F. Chopin Children’s Musical School №3 and I.O. Akhremchik Gymnasium-College, students of Belarusian State Academy of Music and members of the Theatre of Dance of Children’s Choreographic School №1 performed the enchanting melodies by Fryderyk Chopin. Presenter of the event, actor and musician Mikhail Zuiy portrayed the young Chopin.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
