On October 10th, within the bounds of the festival “The Orthodox Belarus”, the international science and practical conference “Kuteino Lectures – 2014” on a topic “The Kuteino Monastery: past, present, future” was held in Orsha.
During the festival, a memorial stone in honor of the Primer by Spiridon Sorokin (1631) printed in the Kuteino printing-house was open solemnly within the walls of the Epiphany Monastery of Kuteino, that became the highlight of the event.
At the conference “Kuteino Lectures” the National Library of Belarus was represented by deputy director for research work and publishing activity Alexander Susha with a paper “The Primer as a phenomenon of Belarusian culture” and head of the Bibliology department Galina Kireeva with a paper “Books of the Kuteino Monastery in the stocks of the National Library of Belarus”.
