The Internet portal of the National Library of Belarus entered the list of finalists for the World Summit Awards in the category “Culture and Tourism”.
The World Summit Awards (WSA) is an international competition of the UN World Summit aimed at supporting digital innovations with a high potential impact on society. In 2018, 438 applications from more than 100 countries were submitted for the WSA Prize.
According to the organizers, each information product was evaluated by 8 jury members, representatives from different regions of the world and various professional fields, which guaranteed democratic selection. An important aspect of selection is the recognition of local digital content affecting society and drawing attention to innovative media products.
On November 4, the online jury selected about 130 best projects, including the Internet portal of the National Library of Belarus. The short list of participants will be evaluated by a grand jury of the WSA, 5 winners in each of the nominations will be announced at the end of November.
The winner announcement will be held in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The previous WSA Global Congress was held in Vienna (Austria), gathering over 700 participants from around the world.
The World Summit Awards has been held since 2003 in accordance with the UN Agenda for the Information Society.
