The book-illustrative exhibition "The Ark of Chingiz Aitmatov", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Kyrgyz and Russian writer, opened on December 12, in the library.
The event was organized by the National Library of Belarus in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Belarus.
At the exposition opening ceremony the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Belarus Kubanychbek Omuraliev noted that the books of the talented writer were translated into 176 languages and are among the ten most large-circulation copies: there are about 100 million copies.
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky thanked the distinguished guest for the valuable gift and noted the significance of the Chingiz Aitmatov’s literary heritage for the world community.
Natalya Batrakova, a writer and poetess, a member of the Writers' Union of Belarus, and Alexander Gorbachev, a senior lecturer in the Russian Literature Department of the Belarusian State University, also attended the opening ceremony. It was also attended by diplomats, cultural figures and representatives of the creative intelligentsia.
At the opening ceremony, the guests got acquinted with the "Aitmatov − Diplomat" photo exhibition, prepared by the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Belarus. The collection includes pictures, documents, telegrams, clippings from newspapers and fragments from autobiography prove the writer's active diplomatic activity.
The exhibition "The Ark of Chingiz Aitmatov" presents the writer's works and literature about his life and work from the collection of the National Library of Belarus, illustrative material, books, which were supplemented to the stock of our "knowledge diamond" due to the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic. There are the encyclopedia "Aitmatov's Universe", a collection of works "White rain" and the four parts of the video retelling of the epic "Manas".
You can visit the exposition until January 10, 2019. The exhibition is located on the 3rd floor.

Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
