On April 15–16, 2009, in V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine was held a seminar on the UNESCO project “The development of the catalog “The Khreptovichs' Library”.
L.G. Kiryukhina, deputy director of the National Library of Belarus for library science and public relations and G.V. Kireeva, head of bibliology department of the National Library of Belarus participated in the seminar.
During the meeting A.S. Onischenko, director of V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, and representatives of the National Library of Belarus discussed the Association Agreement between the National Libraries of Ukraine and Belarus and examined the Agreement on a team-work on the project “The development of the catalog “The Khreptovichs’ Library”.
The both parties appointed the project coordinators and determined managerial procedure. Participants of the seminar read up papers on the Khreptovichs’ Library collections and its physical state. A particular attention was paid to the issues of digitizing of title-pages of publications, description and scanning of materials, and the further revelation of books not only in the National Library of Ukraine but also in other libraries. The National Library of Belarus received 2489 electronic copies of title-pages of books from the Khreptovichs’ collections which are kept in the National Library of Ukraine.
By Ukrainian party’s agreement, Belarusian researchers got access to full text electronic copies of two manuscripts of paramount importance – “Mlechko’s Notes” and the Second Statute of 1566.
