A solemn ceremony on handing over the books to the Room of knowledge of the Center for people’s diplomacy of the Shanghai cooperation organization in Uzbekistan held on July 28th, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National library of Belarus and implementing international project “Belarus today”.

The event was attended by Rahmatulla Nazarov, a counsellor of the embassy of Uzbekistan in Belarus, Aksana Knizhnikava, director general of the National library of Belarus; students from Uzbekistan who are studying in our country, creative intellectuals, media representative and library employees.

The head of the delegation from Uzbekistan was awarded with a donation certificate of the Belarussian publications collection under the project “Belarus today”, which has been carrying out jointly by the National library of Belarus and Ministry of culture of Belarus since 2010. The collection included about one hundred best fiction, scientific, popular science editions, encyclopedias, reference books and photo albums of our country. The collection of the books will introduce an Uzbek reader to Belarus in all of its diversity: many-century history, modern life, cultural achievements, and wealth national traditions.

The embassy of Uzbekistan in Belarus have surprised pleasantly by presenting a gift in return. The collections of the National library of Belarus were added with a 24 posters collection of culture figures from Uzbekistan. Among them are Abdula Aripov, Alisher Navoee, Zulfiay, Hamid Alimdjan and other. Fifty classic’s publications on poetry and prose fiction, which disclose traditions, style of life and household of the Uzbek people, will be also available for the readers. The majority of the books is presented in the Uzbek language.
