On 26–28 September, Astana (Kazakhstan) hosted the Forum of librarians from the CIS countries "The CIS libraries: integration, innovation and access for all".


Among the participants of the forum were the representatives of the Ministries of Culture of the CIS countries, heads of national libraries and professional associations, representatives of educational institutions that provide training for library staff.

In the forum the delegation of the Republic of Belarus was presented by: Director of the National Library of Belarus R. Motulsky; First Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus E. Dolgopolova; chief specialist in management of cultural institutions and national creativity of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus N. Zaderkovskaya; Dean of the Faculty of Informational and Document Communications of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Art N. Yatsevich.

The most important issues for development of library science were discussed during the forum. It is the priority of the state policy in the CIS countries, the strategic issues of development of libraries in the information society, and new approaches to training, issues on development of inter-library cooperation.

The representatives of the Belarusian delegation took part in the plenary sessions and workshops, as well as they read reports: "The library in the information age: the paradigm of development" (R. Motulsky), "The role of the Belarusian Library Association in consolidation of professional community" (E. Dolgopolova) "The implementation of the state policy in the field of library science in the Republic of Belarus" (N. Zaderkovskaya), "Multi-level training of library staff in the Republic of Belarus" (N. Yatsevich).

The delegation took an active part in discussions and other events of the forum. The Memorandum on Cooperation of strengthening the CIS library associations was signed during the round table "When we are together: a new role of library associations in the information society".

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
