On September 15, librarians from all over Belarus gathered at the National Library to celebrate a professional holiday - Libraries Day, relax among colleagues and like-minded people, and receive well-deserved attention.
Distinguished guests from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus came to share the joy of the holiday and reward the best of the best for their professionalism and impeccable service to librarianship.
The celebration began with a republican seminar on librarianship. The main topics of the event were the regulatory financing of libraries, changes in the forms of statistical state reporting, the tasks of libraries in the aspect of the implementation of state cultural policy.
The event continued by congratulating the guests on the Libraries Day. First Deputy Minister of Culture Valery Gramada read out congratulations from the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Markevich.
Within the framework of the event, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the XXXI republican contest ”Library – environment of national culture" was held. The competition is held annually among the public libraries of the country in order to increase their role in the formation of national consciousness of the population, popularization of national culture, history, literature, language, folk crafts, as well as support and development of reading.
22 public libraries won in 4 nominations “For significant contribution to educational work with the younger generation”, “For innovations in the field of librarianship”, “For search and research work”, “For support and development of reading". In the foyer of the conference hall, an exhibition of competitive works was prepared for the holiday, which clearly reflects how the potential of libraries is realized in the revival of national culture, history, literature, language, folklore and ethnographic heritage.
Musical congratulations on the Libraries Day were presented by the artists of the professional vocal ensemble “Pure Voice”.
The award ceremony was not only a celebration for the winners, but also an opportunity for librarians to exchange experience and knowledge.
