The National Library of Belarus continued the 6th Forum of Belarusian Librarians "Humanitarian and Educational Activities of Libraries in the Context of Human Values and Belarusian Statehood" on May 28.
The second day of the forum began with a round table “Organizational and regulatory aspects of the activities of the Belarusian Library Association in the new composition”.
The members of the council of Belarusian Library Association, leaders and specialists in the library business discussed Regulation on the regional-study activity of the Belarusian libraries, the priorities for the Association for the period up to 2024 and its interaction with the state administration bodies.
The session of a section “Current issues of the library activity in the present stage” also took place.
Participants shared their opinions about the profession of a librarian in a new reality, their work experience in the organization of interactive exhibitions, user service under the conditions of pandemic, successes in the design and innovation activity; they described new tools for libraries, book and reading promotion.
All speakers of the session emphasized that effective professional communications and close cooperation play an important role in achieving success today.
The program of events also included master classes. Ms Iryna Vasilkovich, Head of the Gallery and Exhibition Department of the National Library of Belarus introduced her colleagues to the practice of complex exhibition projects based on the example of the book illustrations exhibition «ILLUSTRATIO. Variety of Illustration Techniques”.
The forum ended with a final session, where the participants discussed the results of fruitful work on the exchange of experience, the search for new ideas and motivation and elaboration of new directions of interaction of the libraries.
