On 16 September, the National Library hosted the international roundtable “Professional media and their impact on professional competence: the 20th anniversary of the magazine Bіblіyatechny svet (The Library World).
The anniversary event gathered representatives of the ministries of culture, information and education, the Central Committee of Trade Union of Workers of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism, heads of the largest Belarusian libraries, representatives of foreign and domestic professional media and partners of the magazine.
The guests were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Culture of Belarus Vasily Chernik, Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus Vladimir Matusevich, Chairman of the Central Committee of Trade Union of Workers of Culture, Information, Sport and Tourism Natalia Avdeeva, representative of the Belarusian Culture Fund Tadeusz Struzhetsky, first secretary for information, education and culture of the Embassy United States Rimma Coiler, director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, and moderator of the roundtable, chief editor of the magazine Bіblіyatechny svet Lyudmila Kiryukhina.
The experts discussed the issues concerning the activities of the modern media, media technologies in use, the language culture publications, and a number of other pressing questions.
Presentations were made by the deputy head of the department of periodicals of the Russian State Library, executive secretary of the magazines Observatory of Culture, Library, Bulletin of BAE Catherine Shibaeva, chief editor of the magazine School Library: Today and Tomorrow Tatiana Dryzhova, head of the Berezina Central Library Tamara Krutalevich, and and methodologist of Soligorsk Central Library Julia Saenko.
The next strategy of the magazine Bіblіyatechny svet was discussed by director of the Republican Scientific and Technical Library Raisa Sukhorukova, dean of the faculty of library and information systems of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Nikolai Yatsevich, and deputy director of the library of the Belarusian National Technical University Inna Yurik.
Roman Motulsky, the chairman of the editorial board of the magazine Bіblіyatechny svet summarized the outcome of the meeting.
