On 20 November, at 3 p.m. a round table "Book culture of the Orthodox Church in Belarus" will take place in the Educational Hall (room 346).
The event is organized by the National Library of Belarus in the framework of the Year of Book with the support of the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Belarus in Poland.
The presentation of the latest editions on the history of the Orthodox Church in Belarus written by famous Belarusian historian from Poland, professor of Bialystok University Anton Mironavich will be held during the round table with the participation of Belarusian scientists. The event will also include the donation of some books from Mironovich’s archive to the National Library of Belarus.
Anton Mironovich studies the Belarusian-Polish-Russian relations, the history of the Orthodox Church in Poland, Belarus and Russia, as well as the culture of the Belarusian minority in Poland. He is a member of the Presidium of the International Academy of the study of national minorities, the International Association of Belarusianists, Polish-Russian Historical Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the International Commission of Church History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, East Slavic Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow.
Book culture of the Orthodox Church in Belarus is determined by a great wealth and diversity. Created during many centuries existence of Christianity in our land book monuments have exceptional significance for the native culture. In this regard, today’s priority is to develop mechanisms to identify, describe, preserve and promote the treasure of our ancestors.
