On July 1–27, in Krakow (Poland) there took place language courses for young people from Belarus within the framework of the international project Roots and Treetops / Карані і вершаліны.


The project was arranged by the Goethe Institute in Minsk and the British Council.

120 young people from Belarus attended super-intensive courses in English language in Krakow. Well-qualified professors taught using modern communicative methods which allowed students to improve rapidly their language level.

In the project the National Library of Belarus was represented by Head of the Electronic information resources acquisition department V.P. Lapo and leading methodologist of the Bibliology department E.V. Poloneychik.

Within the framework of the project participants met with representatives of the European Union institutions who told them about its structure and activity of its institutions, and also presented information on international cultural projects.

"BiblioNight-2024" has taken place!

We studied, made noise, had fun and were creative! The annual action in support of reading "BiblioNight-2024" has taken place! BiblioNight turned the space of the National Library of Belarus into a Planet of Knowledge, where thousands of book lovers found activities to their liking, received a lot of positive emotions and learned a lot of new and interesting things.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
