We publish the Resolution of the 6th Forum of Belarusian Librarians "Humanitarian and Educational Activities of Libraries in the Context of Human Values and Belarusian Statehood", which was held on May 27-28 at the National Library of Belarus.
The Forum participants, representing the library community of the Republic of Belarus, note the important role of libraries in preserving and translating human cultural values, cultural heritage of the people, their national memory, promoting sustainable development of society, the formation and development of intellectual, spiritual, moral, civil consciousness of the individual by providing free access to information and knowledge.
Having analyzed the problems of the development of the library industry, the Forum participants turn to government authorities with the following proposals:
to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus
to the National Library of Belarus
To carry out a census of libraries of all ministries and departments of the Republic.
to the National Library of Belarus
to the National scientific libraries
to the Regional public libraries
To publish a collection of materials highlighting the experience of libraries in the formation of information and media literacy of users on the basis of the National Library of Belarus in 2022
to the Belarusian Library Association
In the framework of international activities, intensify work in the IFLA "Library Map of the World" project
to the Belarusian Library Association
to the Belarusian State University of Culture
To hold a round table on the issues of interaction of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Personnel of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and Libraries within the framework of the organization of postgraduate education and advanced training for library personnel
to the Council of Libraries of Belarus on the Matter of Information Interaction
To consider the possibility of preparing a coordination plan for the activities of the national libraries for the digitization of library collections
to the Belarusian Library Association
To prepare a draft Strategy for the development of the library industry until 2030 and beyond
In order to provide methodological support for regional studies of libraries of the Republic, the participants of the Forum have decided to approve "Regulations on Local History Activities of Libraries of the Republic of Belarus", developed by the Bibliography Research Department of the National Library of Belarus and agreed by the Council of Libraries of Belarus for Information Interaction.
