Cultural historian and bibliographer Alies Susha taught a lesson at the Book Professors’ Club, on October 27. The children participated in a lecture-discussion about the Brest Bible, completed a creative task, turned the pages of the facsimile edition and, at the end, received an autograph from the famous researcher.
Alies Susha captured the attention of young "professors," speaking about the Brest Bible in a language that was understandable to children. To sustain the interest of the audience, the speaker relied on modern scientific achievements and at the same time presented the material in an accessible and entertaining way. The children were not simply listeners, but also active participants in comprehending the story of the most mysterious, beautiful and expensive publication in Belarus. The “young professors” boldly argued, expressed various hypotheses and arguments, conducted analysis, made conclusions and shared their impressions.
The attendees had a unique opportunity to see not only the facsimile, but also the original, which is temporarily exhibited at the Book Museum.
The creative task was to design an original title page for the Brest Bible. It allowed the children to show their individual abilities, having consolidated the theory and creativity.
At the end of the meeting, all comers received an autograph from Alies Susha.
The classes are part of the cultural and educational projects “The Book Professors Club” and “Touch the Brest Bible.”
