The Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus offers a new permanent exposition “Radziviliana” dedicated to the Radzivils noble family.
The Radzivils were the major noble family in the Great Duchy of Lithuania who played a large part in the cultural life of the country and significantly contributed to the development of Belarusian book culture.
The old-printed editions from the Radzivils’ Nieswies Library with bookplates, editions published by the Radzivils’ printing-houses in Brest and Nieswies in the XVI and XVIIІ centuries, and also the books Іerosolymitana Peregrinatio (Antwerp, 1614) by prince Nicolay Krzysztof Radzivil Sirotka and “Comedies and Tragedies” (Zholkva, 1754) by Frantiska Ursula Radzivil are displayed at the Museum.
In 2009 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) included the Radzivils’ archives and the Nieswies book collection into the Memory of the World Register. The National Library of Belarus, as a keeper of part of the Radzivils’ documentary heritage, has received the certification that is exposed at the Museum as well.
